CARE PROFESSIONAL

Your First Visit to an Acupuncture and Chiropractic Care Professional

Upon entering the office, receptionists will welcome you to your new healing facility. You will be asked to complete a patient intake and health history form. This information provides your treatment professionals with vital information about your condition.

Consultation

Then, you will have a consultation with a chiropractic and acupuncture professional to discuss your health-related issues and concerns. Potential treatment options will also be discussed. The initial visit helps the provider to learn and understand more about you and your condition, and provides expectations about how chiropractic and acupuncture treatments can meet your health goals.

Examination

After your consultation, your care provider will perform a complete chiropractic and acupuncture examination. Your reflexes and flexibility will be assessed. Other neurological, postural, orthopedic, and physical tests will also be performed. Nothing will be done until a full assessment is completed, and your consent is given.

X-Ray Imaging

Depending on your condition, your care provider may order x-rays. These images help to develop the most effective treatment plan for you. They also identify any potentially severe spinal issues. X-rays can also identify spinal misalignments and degenerative spinal discs and joints.

Report of Findings

When all the information is collected, and examinations are performed, your care provider will share a detailed report of the findings. Taking into account your health history, goals, examination, and x-rays, your care provider will discuss recommendations and tell you if  your condition requires the services of other healthcare professionals. The answers to your questions will also be provided. Typical questions include:

  • How will you help my situation?
  • How often will I need to visit my treatment provider?
  • What will my care and treatment cost?

Your care provider aims to give you the best treatment and wellness program for your unique needs.

Treatment

Once the consultative care is provided, your care professional will offer you the opportunity to undergo your first treatment. This may include one or a combination of these services:
  • Chiropractic spinal adjustments
  • Acupuncture
  • Physical therapy
  • Soft tissue massage
Your professional understands that treatment should be interactive, so you should feel free to express your concerns and questions about the different kinds of treatment.

Wellness Program

Prior to ending your visit, the care professional will recommend a wellness program to perform outside of treatment.  If you are experiencing pain, this may include:
  • Ice or heat application
  • Instructions on which specific activities or positions to avoid
  • At-home exercises and stretches
  • Nutritional advice
If you so desire, wellness professionals can work with you to create and incorporate healthy habits and routines into your activities and lifestyle. Care providers understand that each person is a unique being. Therefore, everyone needs a customized and personalized wellness program.  Acupuncture and chiropractic care providers design wellness programs with the intention of achieving excellent spinal alignment, healthy dietary choices, regular exercise, and maintaining a positive mental state. Overall, your first visit should identify and evaluate your concerns, answer your questions, and provide treatment for your health issues. Emphasis is placed on a strong patient-provider relationship.
